I purchased this piece a few years ago from a Chinese-Canadian artist who was born in Africa. This just made me think about the loss of memory and history (that you just talked about) and how, with what just happened in Japan, a lot of photos (remnants of memories snapped in a particular moment in time) like this would be washed out in one second by a tsunami or be buried by a massive earthquake. everything can be destroyed, everything, everything goes——-memory goes!
